The project P-REACT is funded by the European Union through the Seventh Framework Programme.
The project is aimed to design, develop and test an innovative platform that enhances the surveillance and protection of depots, stops, stations of public transport and areas of small businesses, against petty crimes.
A pilot test will be carried out in Bologna: a video capturing platform based on cameras will be tested in order to verify its effectiveness in recognising suspicious conducts.
The surveillance system will be developed in order to store the images shot and to make them available to law enforcement. Finally, a procedure will be elaborated to guarantee that videos and pictures collected by the surveillance system are handled in respect of privacy rules and ethical issues.
